Venn St Market nominated for the Urban Food Awards

Venn St Market nominated for the Urban Food Awards

We have been following the success of the Clapham Leaf Club since Kate Greening, one of the founders of Venn Street Market came along to a NABMA Conference as a guest speaker in 2014.

And now the initiative is in with a chance of winning an Urban Food Award, run by the Mayor of London, Borough Market and London Food Link. Your votes would mean a great deal for the initiative that we featured on our blog a couple of years ago.  Clapham Leaf Club has been designed to enable pupils of the Clapham and Larkhall Collaborative schools, (Allen Edwards, Clapham Manor, Heathbrook, Lark Hall Primary and Macaulay CE) to learn all aspects of growing their own food from preparing the soil using organic matter, to sowing seeds and culturing their crops which will then be harvested and either sold as fruit and vegetables or used in a cuisine and sold at the Market.
All you need to do is click londonfoodlink.org to register your vote before the 8th July!  Venn Street Market and its Clapham Leaf Club are listed in the ‘People Category’ in the ‘Roots to Work’ section.
If you would like to find out more you could join the Clapham Leaf Club on Saturday 2nd July 2016 to celebrate it’s fantastic fifth year!!
Following last year’s highly successful event, the organisers expect to see hanging baskets filled with flowers, fruit and vegetables fresh from the harvest, eggs and Tzatziki followed by fresh pasta and Pea Pesto!
