They are going all out over in Carmarthenshire celebrating their local markets in Llanelli, Carmarthen, Ammanford and Llandeilo.

300 T-shirts have been created for market traders to wear in all of the markets,and as part of the LYLM campaign, a discount leaflet, supported by Llanelli market and town centre traders, has also been developed offering shoppers a variety of discounts to take advantage of in conjunction with the local newspaper the Llanelli Star.

The event provides the county with an opportunity to showcase its great local markets including Carmarthen indoor and outdoor markets; Llanelli indoor and outdoor markets; Ammanford outdoor market and Llandeilo outdoor market.

Secretary of Carmarthen Market Traders Association Rose Leaf said: “We would encourage all shoppers to come and see what great things are available in our local market. With so much on offer, there is something for everyone and every occasion.”

With over 900 markets across the UK  taking part its great that Carmarthen focus importance on their markets, the role they play in the heart of the local community, not only for retail a valuable community asset.

Carmarthenshire County Council Executive Board Member responsible for markets, Cllr Jeff Edmunds, said: “I hope shoppers will continue to show their support to our local market traders, not only during the Love Your Local Market fortnight, but also throughout the year.”

Llanelli indoor market opens six days a week from 8am-5pm, with its outdoor market every Thursday and Saturday.

Carmarthen indoor market opens six days a week from 9.30am-4.30pm, with its outdoor market every Wednesday and Saturday. Llandeilo and Ammanford outdoor markets are held every Friday.
