26 Mar Support for start-ups
We’re really excited here at Love Your Local Market HQ to have teamed up with the Department for Business Innovation and Skills or BIS, who have a wealth of resources to offer new and existing traders.
Love Your Local Market is very much about encouraging new business and since 2012 markets have pledged an astonishing 7,000 pitches to attract a new generation of stallholders. While the initiative offers a low cost, low risk route to market many of these businesses will need specialist advise and training and the Start-Up links to BIS include information and advice on everything from funding, market research and developing business plans to actually setting up the business.
There is also the Business Support and Finance Finder Tool offering local and regional access to grants, loans and finance as well as mentoring, while the Events Finder offers a search tool for local business related training, workshops, networking events and seminars right across the UK.
Hundreds of businesses have been launched as a result of Love Your Local Market and we want to make it thousands. Whether looking to sell exclusively through markets, as part of an online offer, as a way to eventually move on to a shop or as a way of highlighting a rural business markets offer a great way to set up in business for a range of reasons – what we need though is to give as many of those start-ups the skills and advise they need to ensure success.
For more examples on business funding, training, advice and skills we are constantly up-dating our Market Trader section of the website, so do check in there.
