26 Sep Love Your Local Market get’s behind Small Biz Saturday
It’s an American concept but it is coming to the UK this December 7th. Small Business Saturday UK was spawned from the idea that the first Saturday in December is thought to be the busiest shopping day of the year… and the idea is that SME’s get in on the act.
The grassroots campaign that encourages people to Shop Local and support new business, generated an estimated £3.5 billion is sales in the U.S despite having only been launched in 2010. We are now hoping that those taking part in Love Your Local Market will get behind the initiative so that UK businesses can have a day in the year where they merit.
We are very much hoping that the UK markets industry are going to get behind this campaign and while we know that it is cutting it fine to organise an event on the day, we are urging market operators to put on an event if you can manage it. However more realistically events already planned can have this element added to them and we would love to support the #SmallBizSatUK hashtag as part of our #lylmxmas.
The initiative is yet another way to highlight the fantastic work you are already carrying out in your high streets and town centres, so get behind the campaign, tell them what you are up to on the Small Business Saturday UK Facebook page and lets support all the small businesses that work on markets on the busiest shopping day of the year. The release of our Christmas specific Media Pack due to come out by the end of October will include details of the initiative, but we have permission to use their logo that can be downloaded below!
