27 May Derby Markets do LYLM in style
There has certainly been alot going on for Love Your Local Market fortnight over in Derby. Richard Felix, the Derby historian from TV’s ‘Most Haunted’, came along to the ‘Smile in Derby Markets’ art competition for children which was held on Wednesday 15 May in the Eagle Market as part of Derby City Council’s ‘Love Your Local Market’ campaign which is running throughout May. Richard is pictured with the winner, 3 year old Dariusz Walenzyk, whose ‘smile’ on a plate won a £20 voucher to spend at Derby Markets and tooth care goodies.
The Mayor of Derby, Lisa Higginbottom, dressed up in style as a blushing bride to attend the Wedding Fete on Saturday 11 May at Derby Market Hall. She arrived in a horse-drawn carriage from Arraslea Shires in Alderwasley, Derbyshire and spent time chatting with traders before braving it and holding Mrs Boo the tarantula from Bugs n Bones, one of the many stalls that took part in the Love Your Local Market event.
Many people braved the cold and wind to visit the Allenton Charity Fun Day at Allenton Market on Saturday 18 May as part of Love Your Local Markets campaign being organised by Derby City Council. Rammie, Derby County’s mascot, did a walkabout with the Mayor of Derby, Lisa Higginbottom, meeting charity stall holders and the Mayor once again did us proud by getting very up close and personal with Geoff the boa constrictor from Dr Stuart Wood’s ‘Meet the Beasts’ stand.
